The Rejected "Gods"

The Human mind tends to accept knowledge as some “divine power.” From the beginning of humankind, countless “prophets” come and go proclaiming this or that “sacred knowledge” or threatening humankind with some “punishment coming from the gods.”

Gradually, humankind started to believe that it is possible to distinguish knowledge from illusions. It was a long process that repeated itself in the human mind over and over again for many centuries and generations. However, every particular time hummers its own illusions in the human mind. Sadly, that circle has endless repetition. It looks impossible to stop that endless circle of illusion because illusions and their destruction depend on every circle of comprehension.

Strictly speaking, any knowledge starts from some “undoubted point” that cannot be disproved. Such a way of thinking often leads to the acceptance of one set of knowledge and facts (in the form of categories of the human mind) and the rejection of another.

Suppose now this. You are a person from the Ancient Greek civilization. Your point of view rests on some “undoubted idea that cannot be disproved”. For example, you believe that Zeus is the highest of all gods, and his power cannot be disproved by any means. Why do you think that? You think that because other people tell you countless times about that point of view on Zeus. In other words,

A lie told once remains a lie, but a lie told a thousand times becomes the truth

- Joseph Goebbels

That circle of human mind distortion has repeated many times throughout human history. More than that. Every particular time has its own set of “gods”, their “actions and achievements” as well as proof of those categories.

Returning to the example of Zeus, you have not only one category of Zeus in your mind. Other people offer you many more categories for proving the existence of that god. For example, they tell you this, “Zeus makes lightning.” You do see lightning, therefore Zeus does exist.

That form of “support of a given category” can be called Backward Cause-Reason Projection (BCRP) or Zeus Fakement. The problem with this approach is that it uses some physical result (or reason) and puts some image category in connection with such physical “support” to reassure you that any image category from the human mind is real. The problem comes from that connection. In that case, your mind becomes blind to “the result” and cannot think rationally to disprove an artificial connection between that artificial category in your mind and the physical “support” of the same category.

Therefore, humankind uses a lot of physical "evidence" to "prove" the existence of a lot of "gods." For example, a storm at sea becomes "explained" as "anger of Poseidon" (the god of the waters). Zeus fakement usually appears as an idea that pushes you to believe in something. For example, "you see the storm at sea. That is the anger of Poseidon. Therefore, Poseidon does exist."

Different centuries brought a lot of ”new gods” to the human mind. However, Zeus fakement was used ever with the same great result to “prove” any of new “gods.”

Many centuries later, humankind found a way of thought that is ever "correct." That way of thinking employs specific mental actions and corresponding signs that facilitate its consistent application, yielding the same "great" result every time. According to available historical information, this way of thought emerged in the Middle East for practical purposes. For example, the Camel caravan owner wants to know how much water he needs to take with the caravan to sustain eight people for the 10-day desert route.

What should he do to answer that question? He measured the amount of water each person consumed daily. The result was astonishing. Each person consumes a different volume of water every day. The amount depends on several factors, including air temperature, humidity, and the person’s condition, among others. Apparently, such a large amount of data leaves no possibility of answering that question about water volume.

The camel caravan owner thinks twice and decides to eliminate all “minor factors.” Therefore, he disregarded the little deviation of water volume consumed by each person and decided to use only the “average” value of water instead of the exact value for each person.

In other words, he invented “a way of thought” that eliminated minor deviation and offers a possibility "to think further and rationally.” In the case of an average volume of water, the main problem appears more straightforward, but remains challenging. Why does it happen? The caravan has eight people, and it is supposed to be on route to another settlement for ten days, assuming each person takes two Sas of water each day. How much water do they need for ten days? It was a challenging problem. The caravan owner must use some form of reasoning to answer that question. He should add two Sas for each person for ten days. He used numbers along with specific symbols to achieve the desirable result, such as 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 20. After that, he “put together” those 20 Sas for each person, thinking this way: 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 = 160 Sas. He used numbers, along with specific symbols, to achieve the desirable result. He called that way of thought mathematics. In other words,

Mathematics is a way of thinking and nothing more
